Last weekend I had the honor of traveling up to Jericho, Vermont to shoot family portraits for the Pratt family. They’ve spent the last few years working through the ups and downs of the adoption process. This past August Jaclyn and I were on a girls vacation in Mexico. The day after we arrived, Jaclyn received a phone call from their adoption coordinator saying the process was ready to move forward and they were able to pick up their daughter. It’s the moment they had been waiting years for! And… we were in Mexico. A couple thousand miles away.
After a few moments of sheer excitement mixed with utter panic, a plan began to formulate. I had been the one to book our plane tickets to Mexico, and just happened to choose a flight with a layover in Philadelphia. And where was Justin and Jaclyn’s beautiful adopted daughter located? Philadelphia. In an amazing twist of divine intervention, Jaclyn and I proceeded to have a couple of relaxing days on the beach before boarding the plane to Philadelphia. As we were landing, a giant rainbow displayed itself in the sky (see photo at the bottom of this post). Never have I experienced so clearly and intricately answers to long-awaited prayers. God’s goodness and faithfulness radiated through this whole experience.
Jaclyn and I parted ways in the airport, and her husband Justin drove down from Vermont with their older daughter Annabelle to rendezvous and meet their new daughter, Ellie. They stayed a few days in Pennsylvania and then returned home to Vermont as a family of four. Thank you for allowing me the honor to capture your family portraits, beautiful friends. <3
